Many families in Pakistan live on money sent from a job abroad. When the job ends badly, with wages unpaid, an injury, or a death, the claim is against an employer in another country, and the family is in Pakistan. This page shows what can be claimed, who in Pakistan helps, and what an advocate does.
Where this applies This page covers a Pakistani who went abroad to work, and dues owed by the employer there. The claim itself is decided under the law of the country where the work was. Pakistani offices help the family pursue it from Pakistan.
What this is about
For a worker who went abroad on a registered contract, through the emigration office, there is a Pakistani body whose job is to chase what the employer owes: unpaid salary, end-of-service pay, compensation for injury or death, and insurance. The family applies in Pakistan, and the mission in the country of work takes it up with the employer. For a worker who went without registration, the route is harder, but the mission can still be asked.
What an advocate adds is the file. Claims fail because the contract cannot be found, the employer’s name is wrong, or the family does not know what was owed. An advocate puts the papers in order, names the right employer, and follows the claim so that it does not stop when the first letter is not answered.

- The worker’s passport and identity card, and the visa or work permit.
- Pay slips, bank records or messages that show what was paid and what was not.
- For an injury or death: the medical papers and the death certificate, attested.
